Often a small group, around 3 or 4 people. Any combination of a tech guy, the acrobat, the stratagist, and a nerd. An athlete can be used as well.
The Heros
With or without superpowers, people of like minds tend to work together for a common goal. A stratigist, acrobat, athlete, ninja, and a spy make for a well rounded team.
The Cowboys
The old west was full of adventure: daring sheriffs rescuing ladies, and brave cowboys fighting cattle rustlers. Add indians or pioneers as well.
The Medieval Group
With a wide variety of occupations, the options are endless. A knight, servants, a princess, and an a peasant are a common mix of the lot.
Basic Team Formations
The School Gang
Usually consists of the cool kid, the nerd, an athlete, and the street smart kid. Sometimes a bully-turned-good or a character with a rough past will join.

Typically includes a main detective along with their trusted sidekick. If it's a larger operation, a street smart kid, acrobat, and nerd can be added too.
The Army Squad
Soldiers may seem uniform, but each has a rich personality. A commander, patriot, and athlete are often seen, and perhaps a coward thrown in for diversity.
From sailors, to surfers, to mermaids, the sea can bring together a wide varaity of characters. Including an old man, an athlete, and a dreamer are typical.
