The government has created an algorithm that "accurately" predicts your future occupation.  You were destined to be a journalist.  Today you were arrested as you walked out of the university with your degree in mathematics. 

Write a book from the perspective of the enemy.  But here's the catch- don't let the reader know til the end of the story. 

"Stability," he whispered as his twisted world came crashing down around him, "that's all I ever wanted." 

 

I placed my palm against the stone, the cool rushing through me.  

"ONE THOUSAND SLAIN"  it read.  

"By the hand of a mortal," I whispered. 

"The chances of making it in are slim.  The odds of making it out are even slimmer.  Failing could bring down the entire resistance."  

 

"Then I guess I'd better do this right the first time." 

He hesitated, his hands trembling with fear.

"Are you sure?" he asked, looking behind him. 

The man shrugged, "That's what they told me."

He look forward at the pool of quicksilver before him, braced himself for the worst of outcomes, and dove in. 

 

 

You've always had an innate ability to tell how dangerous someone is. Your 

best friend is about average, but today when he walked into class he was off the charts.
